And Now…for Some Really, Really  Good News!

AN UPDATE: Our Historic Stained Glass Windows Restoration Program…

As previously mentioned in an earlier Monitor, this Spring we were notified of the approval of our State Historical Fund grant application to be used for the restoration of our D Street, 12 foot x 19 foot historic 1900 window.

We are extremly grateful to partner with the State Historical Fund, and for their financial support of $47,553.00 (75% of the cost of this project). Thanks to the generosity of so many of you, we were able to meet our required 25% cash match in the amount of $15,851.00.

Since the time we were notified, we have prepared the first wave of necessary paperwork to begin to receive our funding in preparation for our restoration project to start.

Due to COVID-19 and the travel, lodging and activity restrictions, we remain in conversation with our contractor, Denver Art Glass, about the best time for the restoration project to begin.  We will keep you posted on that schedule.

We continue to ask for your prayers for the success of this Windows Restoration Project! We care about these amazing windows and the history they hold.

Here are a few more photos of the D Street Window, including an historic one I found from the early 1900s. Salida UMC is the church on the left. First Christian Church is the one on the right!
